As part of the Bicentennial School Initiative, Elba's assistant principal along with a couple of teachers from Elba Elementary School had the opportunity to spend 3.5 days at the Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center as they learned more about majestic long-leaf pine and its important role in our state's history. They joined other Alabama educators amid 5,300 acres of forests, swamps, springs, and river footage.

This professional development allowed them to participate in hands-on activities, field trips, and receive numerous classroom resources that will equip them to engage our students and lead celebrations as we remember Alabama's 200th birthday. A big thanks goes to Mr. Jason Tucker (Assistant Principal), Mrs. Pam Mitchell (4th Grade ELA/Alabama History Teacher), and Mrs. Kelly Wilson (3rd Grade ELA/Social Studies Teacher) for taking time out of their summer to participate.
